ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Each MSVCC Academy Webinar will utilize a supplemental Canvas course that will be used by the participant to access overview, support, and content (including the Zoom link to join the webinar). Participants may elect to access the supplemental course prior to the date of the webinar in order to review related materials. To receive a certificate of completion and credit for attending the webinar, please know that you MUST complete all of the requirements of the course (including the quiz at the end). 

Description:

In this webinar, participants will learn how to craft engaging rubrics and infuse Universal Design for Learning checkpoints into assessments. Discover how to make grading more enjoyable for instructors while promoting student choice and autonomy!

 

Session Date: April 17, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Create a rubric within Canvas and attach the rubric to an assignment or discussion board.
  • Develop rubric criteria that optimize relevance, value, and authenticity (UDL Checkpoint 7.2)
  • Construct assessments that optimize individual choice and autonomy (UDL Checkpoint 7.1)
  • Provide Mastery Oriented Feedback using rubrics for assessment grading (UDL Checkpoint 8.4)

This webinar is being taught by Dr. Christa Wilhite, the Instructional Design Specialist for the Division of eLearning and Instructional Technology at the Mississippi Community College Board. Christa is a graduate of the University of Alabama and holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. Professionally, Christa is focused on integrating technology into instructional practices to create learning experiences that are cohesive across modes of delivery. In her personal life, Christa enjoys applying learning and motivational constructs when working with dogs in a training environment.
