This webinar is part of an instructional design series featuring Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI). Each webinar in the series will focus on best practices for designing online courses to meet RSI criteria. The Direct Instruction webinar will define direct instruction based on current federal guidelines and demonstrate strategies for integrating direct instruction into an online course. While completing the webinars as they are offered is encouraged, the RSI series does not have to be completed in order.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define direct instruction per federal guidelines at the time of the webinar
  • Describe strategies for incorporating direct instruction into online learning

This webinar is being taught by Dr. Christa Wilhite, the Instructional Design Specialist for the Division of eLearning and Instructional Technology at the Mississippi Community College Board. Christa is a graduate of the University of Alabama and holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. Professionally, Christa is focused on integrating technology into instructional practices to create learning experiences that are cohesive across modes of delivery. In her personal life, Christa enjoys applying learning and motivational constructs when working with dogs in a training environment.
