Each MSVCC Academy Webinar will utilize a supplemental Canvas course which will be used by the participant to access overview, support, and content (including the Zoom link to join the webinar). Participants may elect to access the supplemental course prior to the date of the webinar in order to review related materials. To receive a certificate of completion and credit for attending the webinar, please know that you MUST complete all of the requirements of the course (including the quiz at the end). MasteryPaths allow instructors to customize learning experiences for students. This session will introduce participants to the capabilities and use cases of MasteryPaths. Participants will explore ways that MasteryPaths can be used to differentiate assignments or provide choices for students. By the end of the session, participants will feel comfortable in using MasteryPaths in their courses!

Session Date: January 28, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm


Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:


  • Identify the pros and cons of using MasteryPaths, such as enrichment, remediation, student choice, etc.
  • Create modules in preparation for MasteryPaths.
  • Build MasteryPaths in your Canvas course.

Kimberly Ellis


Kimberly holds a Master's degree in Instructional Design, and currently works as an Instructional Designer for Instructure (Canvas). In the past, she was eLearning Coordinator and Instructional Design Coordinator at Pearl River Community College. As an Instructional Designer, Kimberly helps ensure high-quality online courses through training, support, and evaluation feedback. Her passion is to work alongside subject-matter experts to create engaging course shells that are beautiful, functional, and conducive to learning -- working collaboratively to align, enrich, and elevate course content! She thrives in dynamic, fast-paced, "get-stuff-done" roles!

Outside of the office, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband, teenage daughter, and Instagram-famous Goldendoodle (@thegoldenlifeofhoney). Weekends are usually full of creating, shopping, eating out, thrift shopping, decorating, and traveling.

Lastly, she considers herself to be a lifelong learner, voluntarily committing herself to excel in her career passions by staying abreast of ever-changing technology through professional development. She hopes you will join her in doing the same!
