DESCRIPTION
Interactions is an online professional development course designed to help instructors learn how to foster participation and interaction, utilize proper netiquette, and cultivate a learning environment that includes interaction-based learning activities.
Participants in this course will watch videos, use Canvas documentation, complete activities, and participate in discussions.
Target Audience: This course is intended for teachers in a K-20+ environment. The techniques and tools in Interactions are used from kindergarten through medical school and everywhere in between. The course will also be beneficial for anyone who will be creating a course, for example, school and district administrators as well as university instructional designers.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define Interaction
- State clearly the requirements for student participation and interaction in an online course
- Develop a plan for response time and feedback on assignments
- Advance the achievement of students toward the course learning objectives through interaction-based learning activities
- Define netiquette and state clearly the requirement for proper netiquette within course interactions in an online course
- Promote active learning by ensuring relevance, value, and authenticity of the content in relation to the learning objectives.
- Promote collaboration between students and faculty through active learning.
- Provide opportunities for unstructured student-initiated interaction with peers
- Provide students the opportunity to give anonymous feedback to the instructor regarding course design and/or content after course completion.
