Important:

Participants may elect to access the supplemental course prior to the date of the webinar in order to review related materials. To receive a certificate of completion and credit for attending the webinar, please know that you MUST complete all of the requirements of the course (including the quiz at the end). 

Description:

 

This webinar is part of an instructional design series featuring Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI).  Each webinar in the series will focus on best practices for designing online courses to meet RSI criteria. The RSI and Discussions Part Two webinar will spotlight the use of the discussion board for meeting RSI criteria while focusing on different interaction styles and strategies to moderate an engaging discussion. While completing the webinars as they are offered is encouraged, the RSI series does not have to be completed in order. 

 

Session Date: October 26, 2022, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm

 

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate different instructor/facilitator responses within the Discussion Board to increase interaction
  • Summarize the importance of instructor presence and moderation within the Discussion Board

This webinar is being taught by Dr. Christa Wilhite, the Instructional Design Specialist for the Division of eLearning and Instructional Technology at the Mississippi Community College Board. Christa is a graduate of the University of Alabama and holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. Professionally, Christa is focused on integrating technology into instructional practices to create learning experiences that are cohesive across modes of delivery. In her personal life, Christa enjoys applying learning and motivational constructs when working with dogs in a training environment.
