Each MSVCC Academy Webinar will utilize a supplemental Canvas course which will be used by the participant to access overview, support, and content (including the Zoom link to join the webinar). A new generation of students (Generation Z) born after 1995 are entering high school or arriving on college campuses. What makes them unique? What are the best ways to motivate them? This self-paced course will focus on: 

  • The characteristic differences between the generations we see in the workplace and in the classroom
  • The characteristics of Generation Z students
  • Consider appropriate learning strategies to use to motivate Generation Z students

Marie Roberts

      Marie Roberts


Marie Roberts is a two-time graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi, earning a B.A. degree in Political Science and an M. Ed. in Student Affairs Administration. She holds six certifications from the Online Learning Consortium (formerly SLOAN-C) in instructional technologies, Web 2.0, and other eLearning-related topics, having conducted training and professional development sessions for more than three years. She recently completed her doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration from Delta State University and is also a Quality Matters certified educator.

Roberts serves at the director of eLearning at Meridian Community College where she focuses on holistic course design and online student engagement. She is currently working to revamp the College's pathways and course offerings schedule. Roberts also serves as an adjunct faculty member for LLS courses, having taught online courses for more than five years. Prior to serving in her current role, Roberts was director of recruiting and campus life at MCC where her time was spent engaging prospective students and growing dual credit course offerings.

Roberts has presented at many local, regional and national technology-related conferences, including Cengage Course Technology, Creating Futures, Educators Connect, the National Distance Learning Conference, and the FantasTech Virtual Conference.
