Each MSVCC Academy Webinar will utilize a supplemental Canvas course which will be used by the participant to access overview, support, and content (including the Zoom link to join the webinar). Participants may elect to access the supplemental course prior to the date of the webinar in order to review related materials. To receive a certificate of completion and credit for attending the webinar, please know that you MUST complete all of the requirements of the course (including the quiz at the end). The ADA standards apply to commercial and public entities that have “places of public accommodation” which include the internet. It is important for educators to create content and resources that are accessible to every learner. Come learn how to apply ADA compliance principles in your Canvas course/resource. Participants will share ideas and issues related to ADA compliance.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:


  • Explain what ADA Compliance is relating to online courses.
  • Identify ways to ensure that their course is ADA Compliant
  • Edit and employ the ADA compliance checklist at their own institution.

This webinar is being facilitated by Katherine Puckett, the District Dean of Instructional Technology and eLearning for Hinds Community College. Katherine has been teaching online and in the classroom for 19+ years. She focuses her efforts on instructional technology, communication, and course quality. Katherine was the Instructional Design Coordinator for Hinds Community College for the last 8 years. Katherine is a certified master reviewer for Quality Matters and focuses on implementing QM at HindsCC. Katherine holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mississippi College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mississippi State University.
